The Montale Park is a place where science and popularisation combine to allow the visitor to discover one of the most representative archaeological realities of our territory and of European protohistory through archaeological remains and life-size reconstructions. Research on the terramares, and in particular that of Montale, has shown that the end of this civilisation was largely determined by environmental factors. Rising temperatures, deforestation, soil impoverishment and exploitation of resources beyond the threshold of sustainability were at the root of the collapse of the terramaricolo system after five centuries of prosperity. Reflection on these historical events contributes to a greater awareness of the risks we face today.

The class retraces the stages of the work that the archaeologists carried out at the Montale site: the archaeological excavation, the analysis of the finds, the reconstruction, with a focus on the recognition of the indicators of environmental over-exploitation 3500 years ago.

PERIOD:

• September to June (the route takes place mostly indoors and the premises are heated with the exception of the reconstructed houses).

DAYS:

• Monday to Friday

TIMETABLE:

• 09:00 - 12:00 (10:00 - 13:00 for non-provincial schools);

• 14:00 - 17:00 (afternoon courses are suspended from mid-November to the end of February).

COST:

• € 7.00 per student.

• Free admission for teachers (two per class), disabled persons and accompanying persons.
