Inside the two reconstructed houses in the open-air museum, audio installations were designed to bring to life the sounds and noises of the activities that took place inside the houses and in the surrounding environment.
The crackling of the fire, the pot boiling, the sound of the chassis in operation...
Then something exceptional happens: the warriors of the village gather to discuss an imminent threat. Their buzz is accompanied by the sound of metalworkers sharpening bronze weapons. A libation of wine concludes the meeting: it is time for battle. The galloping of horses joins the clanking of weapons. The clash, fast and bloody, gradually dies down and the horses move away. A thunderclap announces the arrival of a thunderstorm, but evening brings serenity with the sounds of nature anticipating the night and the gentle cry of an infant comforted by the tinkling of a rattle.
The audio ambience enriches the immersive dimension with devices that make it possible to perceive sounds not from a single source, but from all the environments to which they are connected: thus, the crackling of the fire comes from the hearth, the sharpening of weapons from the metalworker's workbench, the rubbing of the drill from the craftsman's table.
